After nearly a decade, Stranger Things has come to an end, and Netflix released the very last episode of Season 5 (the final season) today. Because Netflix drops new episodes worldwide at the same moment, the “U.S. date” shifted to the following day for us in both drops—and with the New Year’s Eve finale, that meant Slovakia didn’t get to tick the series off for good until New Year’s Day.
Final season schedule: release dates for all parts (Slovakia)
The final season had 8 episodes and Netflix split it into three releases (two batches + the full finale). For Slovakia (CET), the parts dropped as follows:
- Volume 1 (Episodes 1–4): 27/11/2025 at 02:00
- Volume 2 (Episodes 5–7): 26/12/2025 at 02:00
- The Finale (Episode 8): 01/01/2026 at 02:00
If you were catching up on older episodes or planning a binge, this was exactly why so many people set an alarm—new episodes became available here overnight.
Official: the finale became available in Slovakia on 1 January 2026 at 02:00
Netflix scheduled the final episode’s premiere for New Year’s Eve in the U.S., but in our time zone it rolled over to 01/01/2026 at 02:00 (CET, Bratislava). In other words: while it was a “New Year’s Eve premiere” in America, here the finale unlocked only after midnight—already in the new year.
Why it aired after midnight here: Netflix released episodes worldwide at the same time
For major premieres, Netflix often uses a single global release time (typically tied to U.S. time zones). The practical effect is simple: the episode appeared for everyone at once—just not at the same hour of the day everywhere.
That’s also why the first reactions and (unfortunately) spoilers on social media started spreading immediately after release—and if you didn’t want to see anything early, you had to mute notifications for a few hours or temporarily disconnect from your feeds.
The finale was feature-length: how long it was and what that meant in practice
The final episode wasn’t a “short wrap-up,” but a full-fledged, feature-length finale: 2 hours and 5 minutes. Combined with the fact it dropped at 02:00 a.m., that left many people with a simple choice: either a late-night marathon, or watch the finale later during the day (and avoid spoilers in the meantime).
Where to watch the finale (and a tip for avoiding spoilers)
The final episode was available on Netflix, just like the rest of the season—no special access, no extra platform. If you were saving it for later and didn’t want the plot spoiled, what helped most was:
- turning off push notifications from apps where shows are discussed the most,
- avoiding recommended videos/shorts (spoilers can pop up instantly there),
- and staying away from comment sections under Netflix posts or fan pages.
