If you plan to drive on Czech motorways in 2026, an electronic motorway vignette (e-vignette) is mandatory for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes with at least four wheels on toll sections. Motorcycles are outside the system. The safest option is to buy your vignette via the official state sales portal at edalnice.cz.
1. Motorway vignette prices from 1 January 2026
| Validity | Standard | Eco (CNG/LNG/biomethane) | Eco (PHEV ≤ 50 g CO₂/km) | Zero-emission (EV/H₂) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 day | CZK 230 | CZK 110 | CZK 50 | CZK 0 |
| 10 days | CZK 300 | CZK 150 | CZK 80 | CZK 0 |
| 30 days | CZK 480 | CZK 240 | CZK 120 | CZK 0 |
| 365 days | CZK 2,570 | CZK 1,280 | CZK 640 | CZK 0 |
* The standard rate applies to petrol and diesel vehicles. Prices result from statutory indexation and a new coefficient under the EU Smart-Tolling directive. (eDalnice, e15.cz)
Since 2025, prices have been calculated using a mechanism that takes inflation and the year-on-year expansion of the motorway network into account (and the result is rounded down to the nearest ten).
Note: Eco prices are rounded in practice (which is why they are not always exactly 50% mathematically).
2. Where and how to buy a vignette
Online store
The fastest way is to go to eDalnice.cz – enter your licence plate number, choose the propulsion type, validity period, and start date, then pay by card or bank transfer. You’ll receive an order confirmation by email.
Points of sale
- Czech Post branches
- EuroOil and RoBiN OIL petrol stations
- self-service kiosks at major border crossings (cashless payment)
Tip: When buying at a petrol station, you have 15 minutes to correct incorrectly entered details free of charge.
3. Discounts and exemptions
- 100% exemption: electric vehicles and hydrogen vehicles (foreigners must apply via a form).
- 50% discount: vehicles running on CNG, LNG, or biomethane.
- 75% discount: plug-in hybrids with emissions up to 50 g CO₂/km
You request the eco price directly during purchase; the system verifies the data in the vehicle register.
4. Fines and enforcement
The Czech police and customs officers monitor licence plates using cameras, both on motorways and via mobile patrols:
- On-the-spot fine: up to CZK 5,000 (approx. €200).
- Administrative proceedings: up to CZK 20,000 (approx. €820).
Note: the system also automatically detects misuse of the eco category (fine up to CZK 100,000).

6. Frequently asked questions from drivers
| Question | Answer (2025) |
|---|---|
| When does the vignette have to start being valid? | You can set any start date up to 30 days in advance. |
| Is the vignette valid on the D0 Prague ring road? | Not for the entire D0. Only the sections listed in the official list/map are tolled: eDalnice |
| Do I need to stick a sticker on the windscreen? | No—the system is fully electronic; licence-plate verification is enough. |
| Why did the 2026 price increase? | Inflation + motorway expansion; the law allows annual adjustments. |
7. Quick tips before you travel
- Buy online in advance – avoid queues at petrol stations.
- Enable email notifications when purchasing; the system will remind you when your validity ends.
- Double-check your licence plate – a mistake can mean a fine if you don’t correct it within 15 minutes.
- Keep an eye on the eco discount – if you change fuel type or vehicle type, you must report it.
- Keep proof of purchase on your phone – a PDF or email can help during checks abroad.
